The purpose of the basic Relaxation Meditation is to assist you to activate a particular state of deep relaxation. This will immediately begin a rejuvenation, regeneration and renewal process. Relaxed here means the body is completely at ease, yet the mind is crystal clear. With this particular meditation you will be activating what is called the alpha brain waves state. This is where the body and all the systems of the body are completely relaxed, yet the mind is crystal clear and unclouded by worry. You are here and it is Now. This does take some practice if you have never done any form of guided meditation before. However, the benefits of meditation to you spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically are well worth the practice.

Because of the times we live in today most people run on adrenalin and endorphins. It is no wonder then that there are so many stress related illnesses. This meditation surpasses most temporary stress relief techniques. You are dissolving stress and anxiety, placing your body in a far more receptive and calm state with progressive muscle relaxation. This has the potential to greatly enhance the quality of your life. This relaxation meditation may resemble similar types of meditation but the small differences make all the difference. In addition, the steps here have been specifically designed to assist you, with practice, to find this meditative state in every moment of your day-to-day life.

Babinski Reflex

A Key to the Relaxation Meditation

A small difference here, that makes all the difference, relates to something called the Babinski reflex. It is a test that is performed to see whether there are any regressions happening on a nervous system level (through various depressions people regress and go back to the time of infancy). There are reflexes that are considered normal in babies, but pathological in children and adults. When you run your hand down under the foot of someone, an adult’s toe will curl in and an infants’ toe will curl back.

Tests done by various Hypnotic Foundations found that, when they regress people during hypnotic regression to infancy and then test them with the Babinski reflex, these people would exhibit the Babinski reflex of an infant. In further tests, they asked an adult to imagine that he/she was an infant and to do something childlike, like sucking on a dummy, to lie down and curl up and to play with the dummy, a little rattle, but to go back - to imagine once more that he/she was an infant. And on the test the person would demonstrate the Babinski reflex of an infant.


Being Childlike and the Alpha State

If you imagine you are an infant and you do something childlike, you bring back the patterns of an infant by being childlike. As a small child you had access to incredible knowledge that you could not put into words. It was pure knowledge, pure wisdom. You were you. You were singing your song. You were being yourself until your were convinced that this was not good enough, that you have to change that.

This effect is found in adults who are taken into a deep state of alpha brain wave activity and to proceed imagining that they are a small child. The key here is that you do not become childish, but rather that you tap into some of the incredible resources of a child.

To assist you in achieving this state, when you begin the relaxation, do the best you can to approach the exercise with the energy of a child. If you don’t know what that means, pretend. Pretend that you are a child again. If you watch a child interacting with their own body they are exploring it and talking to it all the time. So at the beginning of the meditation when you are asked to place your awareness in your big toe, do the best you can to do so with a child-like attitude. And as an infant you knew how to relax. Have you seen a little child asleep? You lift their hand, it flops, totally relaxed.



Visualize Relaxing the Bones and the Marrow

Another small difference, that makes all the difference, is to focus on relaxing your body right down to the bones and the marrow. The original experiment was conducted at the Stanford University, was repeated at Cambridge and they repeated it at the Australian National University. If someone is reasonably relaxed, and after you have talked to your toes etc., you will be reasonably relaxed. And if the person reaches for the marrow inside the bones of their legs, there is a marked shift into the alpha rhythm of the brain wave pattern. There is no explanation for that. It just happens.


The Relaxation Meditation
and Your Losses

Another small difference, that makes all the difference, is when you relax your buttocks and your anus. Usually when you experience a loss in your life, you hang on to that loss, your buttocks contracts. Even if your buttocks relax afterwards, there is a kind of permanent cramp that’s established in the anus. And eventually ulcers develop because there is no proper flow of blood, the worst being ulcerative colitis, when ulcers form in the colon.

All of us have experienced losses that we can’t even remember. When we lost that favourite teddy bear, when our pet got run over by a car, when our best friend next door moved. We experience this loss, little losses that happened, the loss of trust in parents, in siblings or whoever. When we hang on to the things of the past, the buttocks lock and it is important that we reclaim a lot of these energies and that we let go of that.



Remain Awake during
The Relaxation Meditation

Now, some of you might go to sleep doing the relaxation meditation. It’s important that you reach at least past the pelvic area. If you reach past the pelvic area before you dose off, the process will continue subconsciously. So it’s important that you remain awake, at least until you reach the pelvic area.

Some people are prone to fall asleep, so they have used a walkman and gone for a walk, and they have imagined their feet relaxing, slowly moving and relaxing. Other people have just stood, leaning gently against the wall and relaxed that way, to make sure they would not go to sleep - to do it completely. To do it, if possible, awake, to retain your awareness.

With the Relaxation Meditation you are awakening your consciousness, and by relaxing the terrain, your body, your consciousness and intuition can start blooming and growing in this fertile soil. So the relaxation part is very important.



Relaxation Meditation Conclusion

You are now equipped with an incredibly powerful basic relaxation meditation technique. Practice it with the guided audio for now, but soon you will be able to do this on your own. People who practice this meditation on a regular basis are eventually able to access this state of relaxation without even having to sit down to meditate. Do this with the guided audio at least 7 times before attempting to do it on your own.

Make sure you are clear on the sequence: Start with the toes, then the feet, up the legs etc. This sequence is important. The colour sequence is also incredibly powerful in terms of assisting you to re-energise your body and mind. Always work according to the sequence of: Red – Orange – Yellow – Green – Blue – Indigo – Violet.

Welcome to a world, the quality of which is far greater than most people will ever experience. A word of caution: Don’t force yourself to do the relaxation meditation, see it rather as a practice that will greatly enhance your life, not as a chore that you have to do.
