The Placebo Effect and meditation might seem at first like two completely separate and unrelated concepts. But are they really?
You have incredible resources of magic, love, happiness and life. These resources go way beyond what is logical and rational. Just like the Placebo Effect defies logic and reason. One of the biggest stumbling blocks in achieving what you set out to achieve are
your own self doubts.
Are you afraid of heights, water, open spaces, closed spaces, spiders, bunny rabbits, an invasion from outer space, or any myriad of unexplained, illogical, irrational and rational fears?
If you are and you can’t find a reason why, it is more than likely an unconscious or subconscious pattern causing you to feel this way. There are keystones that keep these edifices of fear, doubt and disbelief in place. Many of these keystones lie within the recesses of your consciousness. Meditation is a highly effecive way of discovering what your keystones are. Once discovered you can, if you choose, pull the keystone and watch the edifice of self-doubt, fears, etc, crumble!
Why Should You Meditate?
So why should you meditate? Because meditation is an internal journey. Any exploration within may be called meditation. It is not required to look outside of yourself but to simply look within. This is where the answers that are right for you await. "That’s all very good", some of you might be thinking, "but what on earth does meditation have to do with the placebo effect?"
Emotions in Motion
When you doubt something, where is that thought coming from? When you feel fear, anger, hatred, jealousy, the list of emotions could go on and on, where do these emotions come from? Could it possibly be from these edifices mentioned previously?
If you reflect on this you may find that if you are in
charge of your mind,
you’ll be in charge of your emotions. And once you are in charge of your emotions those edifices of self-doubt, fear and disbelief are less likely to control your life. The most influential factor that determines whether a placebo will work or not is the
extent of your belief
or conversely, the extent of your doubt. When a placebo has an opposite effect it is referred to as a Nocebo. This is where meditation comes into the picture.

meditation prepares the ground,
that's you, for the seeds of consciousness to grow and flourish. Making a habit of practicing meditation will also make you aware of which thoughts serve you and which hold you back. This allows you to discern more clearly what you do and do not doubt.
Furthermore, through various meditation techniques, especially guided meditations, you are creating a wider bridge to your subconscious and unconscious minds. Through these guided meditations it is possible to reprogram the neural pathways that would cause you to react certain ways in certain situations.
With more practice this bridge will gradually expand and you’ll find yourself breaking free of limiting patterns that would normally be holding you back. As you go through the process of removing your limiting keystones, more doubt will disappear. As your doubt disappears, more becomes possible. Through the practice of meditation you can, with time, choose and discard your Nocebos and choose and create your own Yescebos!.

Body Testing the Placebo Effect
Kinesiology reveals much about how the Placebo Effect works. In Kinesiology they perform a test called ‘Body Testing’, whereby they ask you a question and see how your body responds. You see, your body responds to the various unconscious and subconscious patterns you hold. A simple and succinct way to put is:
Whatever you think or feel about, whether consciously or unconsciously, your body will adopt as a pattern”
For example, lets say you buy a hamburger but believe that it is junk food and not healthy. A Kinesiologist will be able to detect this belief you have through body testing. With meditation you can tell your unconscious and subconscious minds that this burger will be wholesome, give you plenty of energy, nourish your body with everything it needs, or whatever other benefit you can think of. That it will increase you mental clarity, your alertness, draw more wealth into your life. In fact whatever you can imagine!

this kind of thinking and feeling creates a placebo effect for your benefit!
If you hold these thoughts and feelings in your mind and heart, the Kinesiologist will detect a very different response from your body! Practicing meditation makes it possible for you to be in charge of your mind. This allows you to consciously choose your thoughts and subsequently the reality you experience.
