Brain Music

“Shift” Your Awareness

So what does brain music have to do with Meditation? Everything! Our brains emit certain frequencies – called brain waves – depending on how active they are. Saying active here is a bit misleading because, as science and research shows us, when our brain waves are in a relaxed state we tend to be more creative, alert and alive.

Music is carried in waves. Your brain emits waves. The brain, being a rather complex and sophisticated piece of human hardware, can be entrained by being exposed to external stimulus, like music. Or, you can use music consciously, as a placebo, to achieve a specific purpose

The Definition of Music Therapy

If you do a search on the web for the definition of music therapy, the result will tell you this:

“Music Therapy is the systematic application of music to produce relaxation and desired changes in emotions, behavior and physiology.”

Have you ever experienced an effect like this when listening to music. I’d be willing to put money on it that you have. The idea though is to produce desired changes, not undesired changes.

Meditation music produces the desired changes. These being a shift into the alpha brain waves state and thus a relaxed, clear, calm and lucid mind, body and soul. What more could you ask for?

The Science of Meditation Music

There is even a field of studies dedicated to the effect of music on brain wave activity, whereby complex computerized algorithms and equipment can convert one's individual brain waves into personalized music, just for your brain.

The computers used can measure the fast and slow rhythms of your brain and generate music that will either stimulate or relax the brain and in turn the body and mind as well. While this is a highly specialized field in which the music created differs from patient to patient, it still wields enormous implications in the use of music to heal. Most of the specialists that work with brain music have reported that many of their patients have been able to stop their medication after continual exposure to their music.

While meditation works on similar principles as brain music, it can produce even more profound results, especially if you are making a habit of practicing meditation and relaxation therapy techniques, all of which are available for affordable purchase and download on this site.

Ancestral is a fusion of the Didgeridoo and Tibetan Bells, blended with a smooth ambient synth. The inspiration for this track comes from our tribal beginnings. A great track for inducing alpha brain waves!
